The Documentary 2.5 – The Game

The Documentary 2.5 was released last week as the second disc of The Documentary 2. The first Disc was a Red Disc and this one is a blue Disc, both are really neat. These two albums are completely different from each other; this second disc more focuses on stuff that’s relevant today. This one as well has a lot more features that I like. The only thing I didn’t like when I went to go buy the Cd is that my favorite track “El Chapo” wasn’t on it! So I had to go to iTunes and buy the song separately. My favorite tracks off this album is “Quick’s Groove”, “Outside”, and ” El Chapo”.

“Quick’s Groove” – I love this beat so much, I absolutely love the 80s feel to this track. Dj Quick always has the hits that I like. Game sounds excellent on this track, I really like Sevyn Streeter and Micah’s hook. Dj Quick offers us a nice verse right after Games verse, and it’s not as good as Games but it is worthy of being on this album. I was singing this hook for like two days at work, but not too loud haha.

“Outside” – This song  is so west coast and I LOVE IT. West coast is my favorite sound for hip-hop; I love the features on here too. E40 Lil  Eazy- E are both perfect on each of their verses, though E40 isn’t on it as much as I thought he would be. Lil Eazy-E verse is pretty dope, and Marcus Black does a great job on the hook. I also like that Travis Barker produced this track too, because I am a huge Blink-182 fan.

“El Chapo” – This is probably my favorite track off this album, who knew Skrillix could do so well on a hip-hop track! I liked the Hispanic horns in the beginning of the song, I loved the Spanish incorporated into the song as well. I am pretty sure I learned more Spanish in this song than I did in High School and elementary school haha. The Game goes off on this track, he murders the track and there is no question about that.

This is a great album, The Game didn’t slack off on the second half of this album. On this second disc he kept it up to par with the first album and maybe a little better even. The Game was reaching for Classic album success on this two-disc album just like the first Documentary.  I think he reached that goal in my opinion; every track on here is pretty damn good. If you are a huge Game fan or a fan of west coast hip-hop then you will love this second disc as well.

The Documentary 2 – The Game

Finally! The Game finally released The Documentary 2! Not only did he release the second album of a classic album, his first album was The Documentary. He made this album a two-disc album with the second half being released on the 16th of October. This album is really good; it’s just as good as the first Documentary album. I love how West Coast this album is; West Coast hip/hop in my opinion is the best type of Hip/hop. My favorite tracks of this album are “Standing On Ferraris”, “Don’t Trip”, and ” Step Up”.

“Standing On Ferraris”- I like the sample on this song so much because it’s the samples from “Kick In The Door” and “Things Done changed” which are both songs that belong to Biggie Smalls. The game hops on this track and lets it rip. He still can rap like he did back on the first Documentary, and gives us great verses throughout the track. Diddy didn’t do much but talk and shout things like he did when Biggie was alive and rapping his verses.

“Don’t Trip” I love the beginning of this song because it sounds almost like the beginning of a movie, then the violin comes in and then it fades into a funky bass line. I love all the verses on here, Ice Cube, Dre and even Will.I.Am. It sounds so great and it’s really catchy; it will really get your head nodding. I was singing “Don’t trip on em” repeatedly all week.

“Step up” The sample from Gang Starr’s “Step In the Arena” is perfect here. The game offers a great verse that goes alongside the beat. He also has Dej Loaf on the track that does a great job as well Sha Sha gives us a nice sultry hook.

The Game delivers us a great album here. He keeps it up to par with the first Documentary; he doesn’t fall short on this album. The beats were great, the verses were great, and even the features were perfect! I can’t wait to hear the second half of this album. This album offers us that the West Coast champion The Game still has the ability to make a Classic album.

Caracal- Disclosure

Disclosure finally released another album titled Caracal. This album is amazing; every song on here is perfect. I loved this whole album front to back; I wish I didn’t just have to pick just three songs. Every feature on this album is great too, the way does Disclosure compliments artist on each song is fantastic. My three favorite songs off this album are “Omen”, “Nocturnal”, and ” Molecules”.

“Omen”-Omen was the first single off their album with none other Sam Smith. I really would absolutely love to hear Sam Smith and Disclosure do a whole album together. They sound so great together when they collaborate together on songs. The beat is great on this track so well, as it moves right alongside Sam’s voice.

“Nocturnal”- When I saw The Weeknd was featured on this album I got so excited. I got really excited because The Weeknd has such a great voice just like Sam Smith and I couldn’t wait to hear what Disclosure and The Weeknd had in store for us. I love the 80s synth vibe that this track has too it.

“Molecules” – I like the beginning of this song a lot, it has that almost funky feel that makes you want to snap your fingers. It has a nice build up to the chorus as well. The track sounds infectious that makes you want to get up and dance. This song would be a great song to remix, or throw on in a club to get people up and dancing.

This album is amazing; I haven’t heard one complaint about this album from anyone who’s heard it. Disclosure really knows how to put together a great album, and know how to work well with artist. They have a lot of features on this album and every feature is great, not one of them disappoints. I really hope that Disclosure makes it out to Coachella 2016.

Tangled Up – Thomas Rhett

Finally Thomas Rhett released his sophomore album Tangled Up. I found this amazing country artist before he blew up, and I am so glad I found his first album. I reviewed his first album and absolutely loved it and it made me fall in love with country more and more after each listen. I happy to say this album did the exact same thing! Every song on this album is different and has great lyrics and great vibes. My favorite songs off this album are “T-shirt”, “I Feel Good”, and “Tangled Up”.

“T-Shirt”- I liked this song as soon as I heard it, Its a nice little country love song. Like most of the songs on here it’s really country and yes I sing this out loud to the top of my lungs in my car. It’s a good song to blast with the windows down.

“I Feel Good”- The beat on this track is nice and makes you want to start dancing. I really love the good vibes feelings on this song, and the track is nice and relaxing. I also like the Rap feature on this track too. It’s an interesting combination to hear Rap and Country, I wouldn’t mind hearing that catch on.

“Tangled Up”- Apparently this is a big radio hit, but I don’t really listen to the radio to know this. But I really do enjoy this song. It’s pretty nice and has a good vibe, as it is another nice little Country love song. It’s easy to remember and easy to get stuck in your head, so it is the perfect radio single.

This is an amazing follow up album to his first one. I loved a lot of the tracks on here, and I don’t think there are any tracks on here that I would take off or skip. I really like his upbeat style as well as the good vibes and beachy feeling I get when I hear his music. I really enjoyed this album a lot and I am glad it was such a good follow up from his first album!  I can’t wait to see what else he can do!

What A Time To Be Alive – Drake & Future

The surprise “mixtape” What A Time To Be Alive came out about a week ago now. Both Drake and Future decided to team up for a joint album, out of the blue it seems. Honestly Drake and Future album doesn’t sound appealing to me. I don’t like Future that much and I think Drake could have picked someone a lot better to team up with for a joint album. I would love to hear a Drake J Cole Album or a J Cole Kendrick album, but Drake decided to do this I guess. My top favorite songs from this album are “Diamonds Dancing”, Plastic Bag, and” Jumpman”.

“Diamonds Dancing” – I really liked the beat on this one as well the Pre-chorus really sounds good. Surprising I don’t mind Future on this part of the songs. I really like the chorus of this song its really catchy. I love drakes verse on this track and I could do with out Future’s verse. I don’t mind Future on the chorus and the Pre-chorus, but I would take another Drake verse over a Future verse.

“Plastic Bag”- This is a strip club anthem,  and it sounds pretty relaxing to me. It again is pretty repetitive like most of the songs on this album. The beat is slow and melodic and drake adds his typical heartbreak drake voice. Future’s verse isn’t that bad on this so I am pretty okay with the balance on this song.

“Jumpman” – This is a club banger for sure, the bass is super heavy on this track. I love in Drakes verse when he sounds like he is clearing his throat and he precedes to say ” I think I need some robitussin”. I thought that was pretty clever and funny, the fact that Drake dominates this track more than future is why I like it a lot. I also the chorus is pretty catchy, after all its only the word Jumpman repeated a bunch of times.

I liked this album or mixtape, even though it wasn’t like a typical mixtape. Its not amazing or over the top fantastic, its just alright. I personally think Drake can do better than this, and I know they did this in 11 days but still. If you are going to do something like this in 11 days why don’t you drop it on datpiff or hotnewhiphop.com and give it away free. But aside from that they album was pretty repetitive and too short. I Felt the balance on some songs was very one sided and needed to be more balanced. All and all it was a good album.
